How to take part in a virtual running or cycling challenge in Abu Dhabi

The TrainYAS Ramadan challenge is taking place online every week this month

Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Daman have teamed up with Yas Marina Circuit to launch the Train Yas Ramadan challenge, a virtual running and cycling programme taking place throughout the month.

The initiative is an extension of the Train Yas events, which, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, would take place at Yas Marina Circuit on the first Tuesday of every month.

The new virtual version has been introduced to ensure people in the city are staying fit and healthy at home during the month of Ramadan and will see a series of different challenges set each week, with different categories for men and women.

The challenge will alternate weekly between cycling and running, and this week, the focus is on cycling.

Those who participate will have between Sunday and Tuesday each of the specific tasks set. For example, this week’s challenge is to complete as many cycling laps as possible while next week’s running challenge will be all about producing the fastest time over a 2.5K, 5K or 10K distance run.

To get involved, all you have to do is register at www.yasmarinacircuit.com/en/healthandfitness/run-trainyas. Once you have, connect either your Strava or Fitbit account to track your scores. If you don’t have one, fear not – there’s also an option to submit your scores manually but make sure you state this when signing up.
