Shop till you drop at these huge retail centres

There is no shortage of places to shop till you drop in Jeddah. Whether you want to just have a browse, update your wardrobe, buy presents, grab a meal with the family or entertain the kids, Jeddah’s huge shopping malls provide all of that and more.

Red Sea Mall

The cool, curved glass building houses an enticing array of local and international brands from high end boutiques such as Burberry and DKNY to high street favourites including Next, American Eagle and Jack Wills. You can take a break from retail therapy in the food court or at one of the numerous cafes and restaurants. There is plenty of choice when it comes to food options. Grab a quick burger at Applenbee’s, get a bowl of noodle at Chopsticks or tuck into some local dishes at Abu El Sid. There is also a huge kid’s play area so once they’re bored of walking around the you can pop in there to appease them.

Mall of Arabia

Ditch the heels and don your comfortable shoes to tackle this whopping 261,000 square metre shopping mall that is located near the King Abdulaziz Interantional Airport. There’s a huge Zara and a decent-sized Mango for fast-fashion lovers, as well as GAP, Promod and Massimo Dutti – so you be prepared for the credit card to take a real hit! Food-wise, you’ll find fast food favourites such as Burger King, Pizza Hut, Hardees and McDonalds for a quick hit on your hunger, but there are also numerous cafes serving snacks, sandwiches, salads and light bites including Paul, Bella Pizza and Pottery Café. Got the kids with you? It doesn’t get much better for little ones than KidZania and this is where it’s at. You’ll find the huge edutainment centre on the second floor, but be warned, this isn’t a quick in and out, the kids will want to stay and play all day, which will have huge implications on your shopping plans.

Al Salaam Mall

Jeddah is home to many enormous shopping malls, which is ideal if you are a shopaholic, or a prolific browser, and this is one of its largest and most popular. Set across three floors, you’ll find everything from international brands like GAP, Mothercareand GUCCI to lots of little local boutiques selling traditional treasures and unique clothing. One of the highlights has to be the fact that Al Salaam Mall is home to every expat’s favourite shop… an M&S Foodhall! There’s even a huge IKEA so you’ll be able to nip in for a look only to end up buying things you didn’t even know you needed (standard, you know the score). A children’s entertainment area is also open for business to keep busy kiddos from driving you nuts as you drag them around the shops.

Aziz Mall

This mall may be smaller than some of its competitors, but it packs a retail punch. Plus, being more compact makes it is easier to ‘pop’ into if you need to grab something quickly. While it doesn’t have endless rows of recognisable brands, it is a very convenient mall with a large supermarket, which is popular with locals and residents, as well as a number of children’s entertainment areas. It is also easy to park here even though it does get quite busy at the weekends.

Haifaa Mall

Whatever is on your shopping list, you are very likely to find it here. Looking for a nice piece of sparkly jewellery? Go to Damas. Fancy a new watch for your tweens birthday? Swatch is a great option. Want to update your wardrobe? With Miss Selfridge, Mango, Springfields, Gant, Etam, Desigual and Berksha you’ll have no problems fulfilling that wish. There are also a whole host of eateries where you can refuel mid-retail mission and a number of entertainemtn areas with arcades and soft play for the little ones.
