A super-stylish floating sauna has just popped up in central Copenhagen

After the 85C experience, guests are encouraged to take an ice shower, then plunge into the canal

Copenhagen has a rep for being pretty stylish. From sleek architecture to minimalist clothing and a famous penchant for chairs, the Danish capital has a good sense of what looks good (and also what doesn’t). So it’s no surprise that when a new floating sauna popped up on one of the city’s waterways, it blended in seamlessly – and looked fit for the most dapper of visitors.

Named Sauna By GoBoat, the wood-panelled, glass-fronted spa is moored on a canal in the city centre. But if you do fancy the trip? You’ll need to prepare for some serious heat, as the sauna reaches 85C (185F), and you’re advised to stay in there for 20 minutes.

After that, it’s suggested you take a bracing turn in the on-site ice shower, and then do as the Danes do and take a plunge in the canal itself. Sounds pretty bracing… and quite possibly a whole lot of fun.

Guests are encouraged to visit as a group. Don’t think you’ll be in Copenhagen any time soon? There are also GoBoats in LondonBerlin, Odense and Australia. To find out more, visit the official website.
