UAE stadium capacity increases to 100 percent for football matches

The COVID-19 protocol update to games includes use of the Al Hosn app and PCR testing

Love football? If you want to cheer on your favourite team with other fans, UAE stadium capacity is increasing to 100 percent for football matches.

The UAE Football Association (UAEFA) announced that UAE stadiums will operate at full capacity for football games. The decision was made in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the UAE Pro League.

The increased UAE football stadium capacity will allow the number of spectators at matches to increase to the maximum.

There are still COVID protocols to follow. Entry is only allowed for those aged 12 and above and all spectators will need to have green status on the Al Hosn app to prove they have received a UAE-approved COVID-19 vaccine. Furthermore, in order to attend a match you will also need to have a negative result of a COVID-19 PCR test taken less than 96 hours from the day of the game.

The increased UAE football stadium capacity follows the announcement that the UAE will be gradually easing COVID-19 related restrictions, with the goal to reach full capacity for all events by mid-February.

Authorities in each emirate are responsible for determining events capacity, as well as easing or restricting procedures, depending on the COVID-19 situation in each emirate.

The easing of restrictions in the UAE has been enabled by the UAE’s vigorous vaccination campaign and precautionary measures.

In addition to increased UAE football stadium capacity, and movie theatres returning to 100 percent capacity.
