Chocolate massage in Abu Dhabi

Ever wanted to be smothered in chocolate and massaged?

So you’ve emptied the box, eaten the cake, picked the chips out of the cookies and now what – you still want more chocolate? If you just can’t get enough, but think you’ve reached your scoffing limits, try the nil by mouth option – chocolate beauty treatments. Eden Spa is offering Chocolate Bliss, a 30-minute body scrub, Chocolate Dip, a 50-minute body wrap and the ultimate indulgence: the chocolate massage. We tried the last option, which is a light, full body treatment, but instead of the traditional essential massage oils, a chocolate-scented syrup is used. This is part oil, part sugar and smells an awful lot like a Toblerone. When the oil first goes on to your skin it feels soft and smooth, but as it settles it becomes very gluey, so the massage turns into seriously sticky business.

The trick is to lie back, inhale the rich smell and enjoy the feeling of being covered in cocoa. The therapist told us the sugar relaxes the muscles (although we’re not quite sure of the science behind this claim) and the cocoa has detoxifying properties, while the scent makes you feel relaxed and drowsy – like having a warm cup of hot chocolate before bed. We couldn’t resist licking one of our fingers when the therapist wasn’t looking, and we can confirm the mixture tastes as sugary as it feels. A word of warning: you’ll be left smelling extremely appetising, so avoid anyone with a sweet tooth who you’re not extremely fond of…
