Angela Beitz visits The Nail Spa to try The Slenderizer, a new massage which targets troublesome cellulite
The promise
Developed by experts at The Nail Spa while working with Deborah Mitchell, internationally renowned for her work with celebrities and her beauty brand Heaven, this deep tissue Slenderizer Massage promises to help improve the tone and elasticity of your skin, eliminate toxins and visibly reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Step-by-step
We are shown into the massage room which is quiet and serene. Our therapist starts with one of our legs and uses kneading and flicking massage techniques, unlike traditional massage, to improve our circulation and to work the targeted areas that are prone to cellulite. She moves onto our other leg and does the same. There are different types of oil that you can choose from and we selected the ‘Fit detox oil’ which is meant to be very good for fluid retention, helps to eliminate toxins, relaxes the mind and nourishes and rejuvenates skin.
The oil contains ingredients such as patchouli, juniper and calendula and together with the massage helps to increase blood flow and lymphatic drainage and facilitate the elimination of excess fluid and fat cells to smooth the appearance of the body. The massage technique is quite firm and swift but we still find it very relaxing and our therapist pays attention to the rest of our body as well, which is a nice treat. We leave feeling invigorated and totally relaxed.
The results
This isn’t a cure for cellulite, but you can see results instantly in terms of your skin being smooth and tight. We would recommend this massage for this time of year if you plan on hitting the beach, if you have a particular concern with cellulite or have just had a baby.
Pros
The spa is modern and welcoming and the treatment shows results. The Nail Spa have a great name in the UAE and they also offer nail services and waxing so you can have other things done while you are there. It’s good value for money.
Cons
The more cellulite you have the more it will hurt, but to be fair it doesn’t really hurt it’s just a bit uncomfortable.
