Aromatherapy massage in Abu Dhabi

We try an aromatherapy session and manicure-pedicure at Boudoir Beauty Lounge

Angela Beitz tries out an aromatherapy massage and manicure-pedicure at Boudoir Beauty Lounge.

The promise
A very relaxing massage that will soothe aching muscles and help us to unwind plus a Shellac manicure and pedicure that will last for nearly two weeks.

Step-by-step
This new spa is tucked away upstairs at Boutik, the shopping centre on Reem Island and unless you ventured upstairs you wouldn’t know it was there. We are greeted by the friendly staff and straight away notice how beautiful the spa is. The name says it all really.

It looks like an elegant boudoir. There is a large hair salon, nail station and treatment rooms at the back, where we make our first stop and lie down so our therapist can get started on our massage. She selects a soothing aromatherapy oil and begins with our back. She tells us we have a lot of stress around our neck and shoulder area and does her best to work out the knots, but she says it will be best if we come back a couple of times. If you work on the knots too hard or too much in one session it can result in quite a lot of pain. She then works on our neck, head, legs and arms and finally our stomach. The room is very quiet and dark so it’s very easy to drift off to sleep which we, in fact, do. Feeling entirely relaxed and thoroughly de-stressed it is then time for our manicure and pedicure. We elect to have a Shellac polish on both our finger and toe nails. It is dried on our nails with UV light which makes it longer lasting than a regular polish. Our nails are then shaped perfectly before the polish is applied.

The results
We feel relaxed and refreshed from our massage and our therapist has done a really good job to work hard on all the tension in our back. When the therapists are doing our nails they take a lot of care and time with them, which is a nice change from the other somewhat complacent nail spas around the city. The Shellac lasts nearly two weeks and looks perfect.

Pros
This is very handy for people who live on Reem Island, and they offer a wealth of different services including hair, nails, waxing, threading, facials and more – so it’s convenient for busy people.

Cons
There are no cons of note but if you don’t live on Reem Island you may find the spa hard to find on your first visit.
