The experience
We are greeted by Charbel as soon as we walk in and feel comfortable immediately. He sits us down and talks about our hair. In a quick minute of chat, he diagnoses, ‘I see you without makeup and no tan. I think you are very busy, you want something a bit low-maintenance, but a bit fun too.’ We felt that description was apt.
The thing about Charbel is he has been doing this for more than 18 years and he loves it – he is still passionate about hair. As he and his co-stylist work on our hair, he is simultaneously working on another lady’s hair and chatting to all his clients happily. We see a happy stylist that is master of his domain.
We begin with a colour Charbel has picked. Our colour is looking a little dull and Charbel tells us this will restore some life and depth to our locks. We get some high and low-lights to break up our faded blonde hair.
Next, we get a wash… did we mention they have a reclining seat at the hair-basin? We nearly dozed off getting a scalp massage.
The signature treatment, Hairwaves, is a hydrating formula designed to restore hair’s health and gloss. Our hair is brittle and dry from blonde colour and a little neglect. Hairwaves treatment is Charbel’s own recipe that gives hair a three-month health kick. It is painted into the hair– similar to getting a colour.
To finish off, we have a cut and blow-dry. Charbel whips the scissors expertly through our barnet, barely stopping to look. We have layers to flatter our round face and those nasty split ends have been eliminated.
The results
We step out of the salon with a glossy mane of blonde with layers, we feel like a model after this overhaul. We can’t stop looking at ourself in every reflective surface and grinning. It has increased our self esteem and we put more effort into our presentation.
