Caitlyn Davey sampled the PerfectContur Wraps at NUYou Slimming Spa to ditch some inches.
The promise
To compact fat cells in order to take inches from our waistline (and then some!) through a special formulated mud-mix and bandages.
The experience
When we heard about the NUYou slimming spa, our ears perked up. We are still feeling the effects of a crazy holiday season, so felt the PerfectContur Wraps and NUYou Slimming Spa could help shrink some of our weight gain problems.
The spa is located in Khalifa City A. It has a vibrant interior, with white and red décor, and the staff all have wide smiles on their face as we walk in. We are offered a ginger tea before we begin the treatment while the manager, Nouvriet, explains what will happen. It’s a special mud mask that is rubbed into the skin, and then bandaged up for an hour while we wait for the treatment to take effect. ‘It feels a little strange, but it’s very effective’, she explains.
To begin the treatment, our therapist takes a comprehensive measurement of our neck, bust, waist, hips, thighs, knees, arms and wrists and notes all our measurements down.
This is to gauge what shrinks after the treatment. We watch her closely, as she meticulously measures us.
Once this is done, we stand straight with our legs apart and our therapist rubs mud across our limbs and torso. It’s a bit like a massage, which we quite enjoy.
The next step is hot wet bandages being wrapped around the mud. It’s a little uncomfortable and wet, but it’s warm and our therapist chats to us jokingly which makes us feel a little bit better.
Once we are mummified, it’s time for the ‘Lady Gaga’ outfit to be put on, according to our therapist. We put a giant silver tarpaulin top and trousers on followed by some booties of the same material.
Now, we wait. Our therapist makes sure we are comfortable and happy to relax. The hour goes by quickly though because we are comfortable enough that we fall asleep.
Our therapist gently wakes us up when the hour is through, our feet are a little sweaty in the booties and we feel a bit dazed in our Lady Gaga-getup. We strip off the suit, and then the bandages which aren’t so warm anymore.
Our therapist takes our measurements again to check the loss. We have lost a bit all over, until she gets to our hips and lets out a gasp. ‘Wow, this is the most loss in one area that I have seen!’ she says of the almost inch we have lost.
Afterwards, we have to abstain from coffee, oily foods, sugars and all the usual nasties for three days. The reason being, the treatment will penetrate our body for a while after so our body needs time to process the products properly.
The results
We feel taught and lean, our jeans are a little looser and we feel like our lumps and bumps have shrunk. The measurements give a tangible result that we are satisfied with.
The Pros
We definitely notice a difference in our body and feel great afterwards. Oh and did we mention we are the record-holder for most lost cms from our hips?
The Cons
No coffee for three days! Okay, it’s manageable and worth it though. It’s also a little uncomfortable at times but the staff are so good about it, you don’t mind.
