Caitlyn Davey tried out new hair salon Marquee’s colour and Brazilian blow-dry to refresh her locks.

To refresh our hair with a colour and Brazilian blow-dry to moisturise and nourish our tired locks.
The experience
The newly opened salons in the Eastern Mangroves complex are like a quiet little haven, away from the traffic and hustle-bustle of Abu Dhabi. Strolling down the promenade, a sense of calm is overcoming.
The Marquee hair salon is linked with The Nail Spa and is Abu Dhabi’s hottest new salon. There are several branches in Dubai, and this is the first one to open in the capital.
We are asked to wait for our stylist, however no sooner have we sat down than a chirpy hairdresser, Ella greets us and escorts us into the styling room. This neoclassical design combines black and orange with chandeliers and clean lines.
We are feeling a little flat – it’s been a while since our hair has been looked after so our highlights are faded, the blonde is dull and frizzy and so dry we can snap pieces off.
Because our hair is looking so sad, we tell Ella that we are open to anything. She is glad to help, smiling and evaluating our locks.
We need some foils and Ella recommends a slower-cooking dye to ensure our hair preserves its integrity – she warns it takes longer but our hair will be healthier for it. It does take a little longer than we are used to, but we have tea and juice and plenty of magazines to keep us entertained.
We have two colours of highlights, streaks are in! It gives us a sun-kissed look with some depth to ensure our colour doesn’t end up looking flat.
Next, a dye-like paint is painted into our wet hair and left to set. ‘This is the Brazilian treatment’ she explains, which is left to sit briefly before the therapists begin blow-drying our hair.
She gives our hair a quick trim to get rid of the nasty dead-ends that came from a bit of mismanagement and unhealthy tresses that we had, which gets rid of some of the frizz and makes it all the more sleek.
To finish, we get a GHD straight finish and can’t stop looking at ourselves in the mirror. We love the colour and the cut, plus the treatment seems to have done wonders to our hair’s condition.
The results
Our hair is glossy, shiny and soft, the colour is vibrant and has been brought back to life. It’s far more manageable with it lasting for weeks after the treatment and going strong.

The experienced stylists are patient and can tailor the service to suit any need. We love the hair-repair.

It took a while, but it was worth it!
