The Kérastase caviar hair treatment contains omega-3 fatty acids, which help to rebuild and strengthen the hair.
The experience
Having established a solid reputation in the city over the last 12 years, Freestyle Hair Salon has now been rebranded as La Coupe Beauty Salon. It’s perched inside the main building of the Abu Dhabi Country Club, on the upper level.
The salon has private rooms for women who prefer privacy, and we are escorted into one of them. The room is fully equipped with three chairs and a basin – and it’s just us and our therapist, so it’s nice and quiet, too.
We begin with a wash – a quick scalp massage has us feeling relaxed before we head to the chair.
The caviar treatment is a white paste that has a pleasant smell and is gentle on the skin – most treatments shouldn’t be worked into the scalp, but this one is actually good for the skin and hair follicles. The therapist paints it on to our hair from tip to scalp.
It takes about half an hour for our whole head to be covered. The therapist then gives us a soothing scalp massage, rubbing the treatment into our hair and scalp, and making us feel sleepy.
Our hair is then wrapped in foil and we are tucked into a steam machine to activate and speed up the treatment. We wait for around 15 minutes – but we don’t mind, because our therapist has given us a drink and a stack of magazines, so we are comfortable.
We then receive another blissful scalp massage at the basin while the therapist washes out the treatment.
We finish with a blow dry, which reveals our new soft, shiny tresses. As any bleached blondes will attest to, achieving glossy hair is no mean feat. All in all the treatment takes around an hour.
The results
Soft hair with a healthy shine. The treatment has breathed a bit of life into our tired colour and is still showing the effects a week and a half later.
The pros
It’s nourishing and our dehydrated hair feels far healthier than it did before.
The cons
It’s really only suited to those with dry or damaged hair. Though the massages are pleasant, it’s mostly just waiting around – so go for the end result rather than the experience.
