It’s a sport all about opinions, and it’s no different here at Time Out towers. With most of the team supporting teams that have no chance of winning the league, what do we know? Probably nothing but that won’t stop us talking about it.
Here’s what we think will happen this year.

“It will be between Liverpool and Manchester City for the title again. I think it will be tight until the end but City will probably edge it. It looks like it will be a tough year for Newcastle United and they could find themselves relegated, but all they need to do is be the fourth worst team to survive. In terms of a dark horse, Leicester City could have a strong season and Wolves will look to build on last year and put the FA Cup final thrashing behind them. Roll on the football season.”

“I know nothing about football and didn’t know who was in the Premier League. It turns out Hull City got demoted in 2014/2015. But after a quick Google these are my predictions… Manchester United to win it. They used to be the best in the world, right? I think it’s about time they made a comeback. I think the losers will be Bournemouth. I’m basing this on stadium capacity, which is the lowest in the league. That makes me believe it’s the smallest city and therefore there are fewer players to choose from. It’s just maths!”

“I think Manchester City will win it more comfortably this season. Liverpool were amazing last term but I don’t see them reaching that level again – whereas City can, and I think they will. Spurs have recruited cleverly and will be third, with a gap to the rest. Meanwhile Brighton will struggle with a new manager, as will Benitez-less Newcastle.”

“The good thing about my team being way down in League One is that I can watch the Premier League every weekend without the fear of yet another thrashing. Our old rivals Newcastle are getting some stick, but I think they’ll be okay, Steve Bruce isn’t a bad manager and they’ve just spent a shedload of cash on a new, young Brazilian striker. Villa could do well out of the promoted teams, but I don’t think anyone can knock Manchester City off their perch.”

“It’ll be a Man City and Liverpool two-horse race again (though without Vincent Kompany in defence, City could leak more goals). To go down, I reckon Sheffield United, Aston Villa, and Brighton. Villa have invested, but on unproven players, so I think they’ll struggle. Sheff Utd, Palace and Brighton have hardly built at all, so I think they’ll be in trouble. My team will struggle following Rafa Benítez’s departure unless they invest across the team. Chelsea’s transfer embargo, loss of Hazard and rookie manager will be interesting to keep an eye on. Norwich might be a surprise package, and Wolves will continue to improve – they look like a team that’s got some real ambition and direction.”
