Abu Dhabi Showdown Week is here and it’s going to be one of the biggest events of the year.
City-wide events are set to take place in the build up to the main event UFC 242, where all eyes will be on the Octagon for Khabib v Poirier.
The UAE capital will be an entertainment hot spot with parties, live music, fitness events and dining deals to get the city excited ahead of fight night.
So what’s going on in the capital for Abu Dhabi Showdown Week?
Californian rock group Red Hot Chilli Peppers will be making their UAE debut as part of the event, when they take to the stage at The Arena on Yas Island on September 4.
The following night, reggaeton singer J Balvin will take over the thrill crowds on September 5 at The Arena to perform hits including Mi Gente.
On September 4 English pop star Jess Glyne will perform at MAD on Yas Island for its BIZAAR night. Two days later, on Friday September 6, Mad will host Disturbing featuring Tinie Tempah and DJ Charlsey. MAD will also host a huge party after the UFC 242 event, when Georgia, USA rapper 2 Chainz takes to the stage.
There are also big stars performing away from MAD on Yas Island. British drum and bass group Rudimental, best known for massive hits Feel The Love, Waiting All Night and These Days (featuring Jess Glynne), will be behind the decks for a pool party at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr on September 5 and will be joined by British DJ, Sigala.
Then, on Friday, September 6, Iris Beach Club takes over Yas Beach with sets from legendary DJ Erick Morillo and British drum and bass duo Sigma. Away from music, there are more pool parties, ladies’ days, happy hours, and parties and brunches taking place across the city, and fitness events including the Abu Dhabi Sports & Fitness Expo.
The Abu Dhabi Sports and Fitness Expo, managed by UAE-based Universal Music Fitness and Fashion (UMFF), will feature leading international exhibitors, competitions, fitness programmes, activations, and international conferences during a three-day run at du Forum on Yas Island from September 5-7.
In addition, a series of in-mall activations running during the seven-day Abu Dhabi Showdown Week period will hand members of the public, money-can’t-buy chances for photo opportunities and meet-and-greets with UFC athletes, and pose for social media-friendly snaps with replica UFC belts.
