The Hero Project: Dr G Mohan Reddy at Aster Hospitals Mankhool

GP emergency physician is ready for all emergencies

In April 2020, Arabian Business and Time Out launched The Hero Project, in a bid to raise the profiles of the thousands of individuals and companies in the UAE making huge efforts to overcome the Covid-19 crisis.

The project allows members of the public to nominate any person, company or organisation in the UAE who they believe deserves recognition during the current pandemic.

Dr G Mohan Reddy is one of these nominees.

Dr G Mohan Reddy has vowed that the very real threat of contracting coronavirus will not stop him from treating the sick.

That’s according to his wife Haripavithra, also a doctor, who has watched her husband go to work during every single day of the current Covid-19 crisis.

She said: “He hasn’t taken a single day off. He is tirelessly working on the frontline.”

Dr Reddy, a GP emergency physician at Aster Hospitals Mankhool, has been taking care of critically ill Covid-19 patients who are struggling and require the use of ventilators.

Haripavithra said: “He is very positive and dedicated and he feels more responsible at these difficult times. One thing he says often is we are prepared any time to get the Covid infection in taking care of the sick. Just keep up our immunity and pray God we should recover fast to treat many.”

Dr Reddy moved from India to the UAE just a year ago and currently has his 55-year-old mother-in-law and four-year-old son at home.

“We are both doctors so my son and my mother are both at risk,” said Haripavithra. “We are taking all precautions, but keeping away from our son is the most difficult thing which we are facing. We hope this ends soon.”

It is clear what the whole family think of Dr Reddy and his colleagues.

“His whole team at Aster ICU need to be recognised as frontline heroes,” said Haripavithra.
