A Spartan race is coming back to Al Ain Zoo

It’s part of the Middle East & Africa Championship

If you’re a fan of getting bumped, bruised and dragged through mud in the name of fun and games, then we’ve got something for you.

Spartan is coming back to Al Ain Zoo with a bigger and better race than ever before.

This time, the event on March 27 forms part of the Middle East & Africa Championships.

There are three options if you’re taking part. The Spartan Sprint, Spartan Best and Spartan Kids.

If you take part in the 5km Spartan Sprint, you’ll have to navigate 20 obstacles. So while it might not seem like a long distance, there’s plenty to get through in that time. This is a great option for first-time Spartan runners.

By comparison, if you take on the Spartan Beast half marathon you’ll have to get through 30 obstacles. This is a difficult run for only seasoned racers, as it puts your mind and body to the test.

The kids race has up to 15 obstacles at distances up to 3.2km (depending on the age of the child). Suitable for youngsters between four and 14 years old, this is a fun way for kids to get active and enjoy themselves.

If you don’t fancy flying solo for any of the races you can sign up a team (there’s also a discount for bigger groups) and spectators are welcome (and they can feel smug on the sidelines) for Dhs20. It’s free for under 12s to watch.
Prices vary. Fri March 27, 6am onwards. Al Ain Zoo, info@ae.spartan.com, www.spartanarabia.com.
