Refill your water bottles for free across Dubai with new Dubai Can initiative

More than 30 public water stations now available throughout the city

You can now refill your water bottle while you’re on-the-go, at more than thirty new water stations around the city.

As Dubai moves towards a more sustainable future, His Royal Highness Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the city-wide Dubai Can initiative yesterday. These new water stations will allow residents to re-fill water bottles with fresh drinking water without charge.

This initiative actively encourages the community to reduce the use of single-use plastics and be more mindful of the impact single-use plastics (in particular water bottles) have on the local environment.

These Dubai Can water filling stations can be found at some of the most prominent areas of the city; at Dubai Marina, Bluewaters, various metro stations, as well as some popular public spaces such as Zabeel Park. You can view a full map of the locations below.

This new Dubai Can initiative, in conjunction with the latest approved policy on single-use plastic bags, aims to help UAE residents to focus more closely on their part in making the city a more responsible and sustainable city for the future.

From July 1, 2022, a tariff of 25 fils will be placed on all plastic bags for carrying goods, with the goal of eliminating single-use plastic bags over the next two years.

These water stations are a great initiative, and we can see them getting good use – especially as we move into the warmer weather.

Have you spotted one of these fresh water filling stations near you?
