It’s the event that theme park fans and motorsport nuts have been eagerly anticipating for months. This Wednesday, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will finally open and organisers are promising it will be a party that will live long in the memory.
Troy Lindquist, the park’s director of sales and marketing, says fun seekers who turn up at 6pm for the party will be handed free red and yellow T-shirts, wigs, flags and other memorabilia in order to recreate the look of the Tifosi – Ferrari racing’s devout fans who adorn themselves in team colours as they follow the team across the world.
Troy told Time Out Abu Dhabi: ‘It’s a one-time fun party and anyone who comes along that night will be part of something very special as there’ll only ever be one opening. I grew up in California and I was at the opening of Disneyland on July 17, 1955 and it’s something I’ve remembered all my life.
‘People who get along to Ferrari World will be able to say “I was there on October 27 at this great moment in Abu Dhabi’s history”. By the main entrance, there will be a huge sea of red and yellow and it will be an amazing spectacle.’
He said there will also be mime artists and other entertainers to keep visitors amused as they wander around the park, trying out the 24 attractions and six dining venues. Ferrari World is the largest indoor theme park in the world, and is home to Formula Rossa, which is the fastest roller coaster on the planet.
