Abu Dhabi Royal Wedding parties

Where to watch Prince William and Kate Middleton’s big day

It’s the royal event of the century, and rather than sitting at home, you’re up for joining a patriotic throng to celebrate Will and Kate’s nuptials. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of venues that are getting immersed in wedding fever and hosting parties to celebrate this Friday’s wedding.

First up, there will be a royal wedding brunch at Abu Dhabi Golf Club (02 558 8990), where you can continuously charge your glass to the lovely couple with some free flowing beverages, and listen to some classic famous British tunes.  The price for all this fun is Dhs265 per person.

Meanwhile, The Club in Mina Port  is hosting two rival regal-themed bashes. Firstly, the St David’s Society & Royal Society of St George is organising special brunch from 1pm-6.30pm, costing Dhs145 per person. This promises to be almost as classy a do as the actual nuptial ceremonies at Westminster Abbey in London, with a strict formal dress code – so fellas, time to get your suit dry- cleaned, and ladies, dust off you best hat.

Also, The Restaurant eatery at The Club will be decked out in Union Jack bunting and flags for an authentic street party. Expect British-style finger foods and drinks, and probably more than a few choruses of ‘God Save the Queen’. This family-friendly event runs from noon-5pm, and tickets cost Dhs80 for members and Dhs100 for non-members. Call (02) 673 1111 for more information.

Finally, should you prefer a more informal place to watch the wedding, Stars ‘n’ Bars sports bar at Yas Marina & Yacht Club will be giving over some of its giant plasma screens to broadcast all the action from London. Give them a call on (02) 565 0101 to find out more.

And if you really can’t be bothered leaving the sofa this weekend, tune in to the BBC Entertainment channel from 11am (7am GMT) and you’ll be able to settle down, wipe your teary eyes and try to spot all the celebrity attendees.
