World of Food Abu Dhabi 2019 is back

Here’s everything you need to know about the food festival

It’s fair to say that Abu Dhabi is a city full of foodies. Whether it’s a funky street food truck, or a fancy high-end restaurant, we love and embrace all types of cuisine here in the capital.

Abu Dhabi Culinary Season has already brought us great events like Yas Mega Mela and Taste of Abu Dhabi, plus great promotions such as Pit Stop Menus.

Next up on the line-up is World of Food Abu Dhabi, and it looks set to be another very tasty and brilliant celebration.

Taking place from December 5 to 9 at Umm Al Emarat Park in Mushrif, it is offering you the chance to try countless delicious dishes, watch expert chefs at work and generally have a super day out.

Want to know more? Well here’s our guide to everything going on at World of Food Abu Dhabi 2019.

Culinary Club
The World of Food Culinary Club lets you experience live cooking demonstrations with international and regional chefs, as well as some much-loved local personalities. The intimate theatre means you’ll get a great view of what these culinary masters are doing, and you’ll leave feeling inspired to have a go at whipping up your own creations in your kitchen at home. Some of the skilled chefs appearing include Masterchef India winner Nikita Ghandi, celebrity chef Ghada El Tally and many more recognisable names and renowned figures in the food industry.

Street food
While we love sitting down for a proper meal, there’s something so pleasurable about watching someone whip up a tasty bite infront of your eyes and enjoying it perched on a picnic bench out in the fresh air. The street food market here features a range of sweet and savoury treats inspired by more than 12 different countries, so make sure you arrive hungry to sample as many as you can.

Entertainment
Throughout the festival a full line-up of bands and artists will be performing to keep you entertained as you finish off your dinner, treat yourself to another ice cream or try one of the freshly ground coffees. Children will also find plenty of ways to amuse themselves in the kids’ zone. Activities available for an additional charge include face painting, gingerbread house making, a cinema and a games room.

Little Chefs Programme
These fun classes let children get their hands dirty and learn a whole range of culinary skills. The programme includes cupcake and cookie decorating, healthy snack box making, ‘fun with fruit’ sessions and much more.

Guinness World Record
If you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth, then you’ll no doubt be intrigued to know that the festival is organising a Guinness World Record attempt for the world’s largest variety of desserts present at one time, in one location. Taking place on Saturday December 7, the project is set to feature all the cakes, puddings and sweet treats you can imagine. We hope we can eat them all afterwards…

Entry
Tickets to the event cost Dhs5 per person, while kids under 12 can enter for free. Entry to the park is an additional Dhs10.
