Abu Dhabi Golf Club guide

Enjoy a round of golf at the championship-quality golf club in Abu Dhabi

Fore!
That’s gone into the lake.

Why are we at a golf course? You know I’m awful at it.
You’ll never get any better with that attitude. And, anyway, it’s nice to be outside.

So what’s so special about Abu Dhabi Golf Club?
It’s home to a 27-hole championship course, which hosts the annual Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. The likes of Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and Henrik Stenson have played these fairways. And US Open champion Dustin Johnson be will in the field for the next edition, from January 19 to 22, 2017. Tickets start from Dhs50 so there’s no excuse to miss out. It will be nice to see some talented players on the course, instead of the likes of me. It’s not too late for you to go pro. Well, maybe it is. But you can brush up on your skills at the Abu Dhabi Golf Institute by Troon Golf. There are lessons for beginners and dedicated programmes for ladies and juniors. There’s also floodlit night golf, which is especially welcome during the summer.

Great! And what about when I’ve finished my round? What can I do then?
You can dine at steakhouse The Grille in the falcon-shaped clubhouse, or head to all-day dining venue Café 28. You might need some comfort food while digesting your score.
From Dhs525 per person (18 holes). Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Sas Al Nakhl, www.adgolfclub.com (02 885 3555).
