Abu Dhabi’s biggest spoken word event announces return for the new season

See some great local performers as the monthly Rooftop Rhythms returns

Spoken word and poetry is incredibly popular in the Middle East and the tradition has been practised in the UAE for centuries.

Keeping the tradition alive and helping to inspire a new generation to take an interest in verbal performances, Rooftop Rhythms has been holding regular shows in Abu Dhabi since 2012.

The collective of performers from all corners of the world will assemble once again on September 27 for the season opening open mic night.

Kicking off the eights season, the collective will showcase emerging and establish spoken word performers from their usual venue The Marketplace at NYUAD.

The evening will feature spoken word artists, poets, and musicians who will each perform original material, created in the UAE.

Hosting the evening, Rooftop Rhythms founder Dorian Paul Roders will keep things flowing and DJ A.L.L.A.D will provide the soundtrack to the night from behind the decks.

Never been to a show before? Tickets to the event are free but registration is required due to high demand.

All you need to do is visit www.nyuad-artscenter.org to reserve a ticket when they become available in the coming weeks closer to the event.
