Eight great ideas for an alternative night out in Abu Dhabi

Choose from stand-up comedy to learning a new language

We’re big fans of happy hours, ladies’ nights, brunches and dining deals but sometimes you might fancy something a little bit different.

Maybe you want to enjoy a laugh at comedy show, learn a new recipe to make at home or test your knowledge at a quiz.

Whatever your interest, there’s loads to do in this city.

Join a quiz team
There’s something immensely satisfying about knowing a little snippet of information that boggles the minds of others. With a pub quiz, you can go in thinking it’s the taking part that counts. But as everyone who’s ever entered one can attest, once the questions start coming, it quickly becomes highly competitive. So, if you want to pick up some top prizes and have a giggle at the same time, gather a group of your brightest friends, think up a clever name for your team and put your collective knowledge to the test with one of Abu Dhabi’s great quiz nights.

Kayak around Louvre Abu Dhabi
Seahawk, the company taking kayakers around Louvre Abu Dhabi, has launched a full moon version of the tours so you can see what the iconic museum looks like lit up at night from the water. If you’ve never seen Louvre Abu Dhabi lit up at night then you’re missing out, and getting to check it out while kayaking in the cooler weather sounds perfect to us. Spaces are limited and booking is essential so if you want to get involved it’s best to plan ahead. One piece of advice from us… Try not drop your phone in the ocean while snapping pictures for Instagram.

Learn a new language
Ever wanted to learn a new language? Taking an informal approach to language, Abu Dhabi Speaks is a weekly meet-up group and language exchange where you can learn the basics of a new language. Group members from all over the world teach others phrases and words that could be used in real-life situations. The group is open to new members if you want to take part and pick up some useful phrases in another language. All you have to do in return is share something yourself and help someone else come to terms with your native tongue.
