You can take part in World Cleanup Day in Abu Dhabi this weekend

Residents on Reem Island and Al Muneera can help save the planet

The world is nice isn’t it? It’s green and blue and very nice thank you very much. But, if we aren’t responsible it won’t stay that way.

Sorry, we’ll step down from our soapbox in a little bit.

Thankfully people are taking more interest in the environment by reducing the use of single use plastics, disposable coffee cups and other actions but there’s always more than can be done.

This weekend on September 21 World Cleanup Day is being held across the world and people in Abu Dhabi can help get in on the action do a good deed for the planet.

Two cleanups are set to take place from 5pm to 7pm at Reem Central Park and Al Muneera Beach Plaza.

The cleanup aims to help clean the capital, rid themselves of disposable solid waste and make the capital an even nicer place to live.

Spaces for volunteers are limited so if you want to do your part you can sign up to take part.

Participants will be able to arrive from 3pm on the day and collect their Cleaning Day toolkit that includes a t-shirt, gloves and clean up bags.

“World Cleanup Day was pulled together to encourage everyone to get involved and help reduce global waste,” says Salwa Al Maflahi, associate director – Sustainability and CSR at Aldar.

“As an active part of the community and a firm advocate of healthy and sustainable living, Aldar continues to take responsibility not only by raising awareness, but through taking action such as cleaning up roads, parks and beaches.

“We look forward to see everyone taking part in this cleanup drive and help protect the environment.”
