Time Out Market Dubai to open in 2021

Food and culture hub will serve up 17 top chefs and Dubai Fountain views from its Souk Al Bahar home

Get ready for your tastiest year yet. 2021 is fast approaching, bringing with it the launch of Time Out Market in Dubai.

Set to house some of the city’s best-loved restaurants and chefs, Time Out Market Dubai will open in Downtown Dubai in early 2021.

While names are being kept tightly under wraps for now, keep your eyes on timeoutdubai.com for the big reveal very soon.

What we can tell you is that the brand-new market – the seventh market location globally for the Time Out Group – will be housed in Dubai’s Souk Al Bahar, so not only can you expect cracking grub, but fantastic views of the world-famous Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa, too.

Upon opening in Q1, 2021, Time Out Market Dubai will bring the best of the city’s restaurants and cultural experiences — all hand-picked by expert Time Out editors — together under one roof.

Spread across an area of 30,000 sq ft, expect to find fantastic food served up alongside unique cultural experiences, complemented by three bars and a magnificent outdoor terrace overlooking the Dubai Fountain, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Yes – it’s just over the bridge from the world’s largest shopping mall, making it ideally placed for a slap-up lunch or dinner after working up an appetite pounding the polished marble.

The Dubai Market is one of four markets Time Out Group is set to launch globally between 2021 and 2023, joining six markets already developed and launched by the brand.

The hugely popular Time Out Market Lisbon opened in 2014, and has since become the Portuguese capital’s number-one tourist attraction. The group has now opened markets in Miami, New York, Boston, Montréal and Chicago. Time Out Market Dubai marks the brand’s first opening east of Europe.

And after temporary closures in March 2020 due to the pandemic, Time Out Market locations have now reopened with enhanced health and safety protocols.

Dubai will be the first new market to open since the global pandemic, with Porto (Q4 2021), London (2022) and Prague (2023) all in the pipeline.

“At Time Out Market we take great pride in helping real estate owners drive quality footfall to their sites and engage with locals and visitors alike,” said Didier Souillat, CEO of Time Out Market. “The Time Out Market concept reimagines the combination of retail, restaurants and cultural experience, while also safeguarding independent businesses and talent in iconic, central locations of cities around the world.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Emaar Malls on the new opening of Time Out Market Dubai in the beautiful Souk Al Bahar. The Time Out brand has a strong presence in Dubai with ITP Media Group whose editors were instrumental in selecting and taste testing the very best curated mix from the city’s top culinary talent. Stay tuned, as we announce the selected chefs and restaurateurs in the coming weeks. With Time Out Media, Time Out Market captures the soul of the city and brings it to life at the Market – with the highest safety standards available for locals and visitors alike to enjoy the city experience.”

Since opening, the six Time Out Markets have housed more than 120 award-winning chefs and beloved restaurants. The four new openings will add more than 60 new chefs – 17 of which will be familiar names to discerning diners and all-round food fans in the city.
