Five foodie personalities to get you cooking at home in the UAE

Whip up comfort foods, decadent desserts, vegan dishes and more

It’s going to get expensive if you’re ordering takeaway every day, so why not try cooking at home a little more.

As we’re all urged to be inside to prevent the spread of coronavirus, there’s more time than ever to get in the kitchen.

Here are five great sites from foodie accounts to help you cook up a storm.

Flav City

Bobby Parrish is one of the best in the business and his Flav City website is an absolute treasure of fantastic healthy recipes (keto and paleo especially), cooking videos, grocery hauls, meal prep ideas and so much more. If you follow his Instagram page @flavcity, you’ll be treated to really interesting videos of things to look for when buying grocery products (it’s our favourite thing to watch). His wife Dessi cooks, too, and her recipes include gluten-free, dairy-free and keto dessert items. We’re just popping our next batch of his keto cloud bread in to the oven.

Laura in the Kitchen

We’d be surprised if you haven’t heard of Laura Vitale. Creator of one of the best fudgey brownie recipes we’ve ever tried, Laura in the Kitchen is a popular YouTube show and website filled with excellent recipes of comfort food and unbeatable desserts. And who are we to argue with someone who believes food feeds the soul, not just the stomach.

Marion’s Kitchen

Australian-Thai chef Marion Grasby’s website isn’t just about brilliant food photography and some really tempting sauces and marinades (available for sale). She adds her Southeast Asian touches to some of the world’s most comforting foods and creates culinary magic. Grasvy breaks it down step by step on her website. We’re salivating just thinking about her Szechuan-style shepherd’s pie and Korean fried chicken wings.

Minimalist Baker

The recipes here require minimal ingredients, minimal time and thankfully, minimal effort. Everything on the website can be prepared either in one bowl, with fewer than ten ingredients or in under 30 minutes. You’ll find breakfast, desserts and other meals and almost everything is vegan or vegetarian. If the quarantine period is getting to you (and your belly), and you’ve decided it’s about time you embrace the home workout life, the Minimalist Baker will help you keep eat cleaner.

With Skyler

The reason we love TV show host and culinary expert Skyler Bouchard so much is because her recipes are unbelievably simple and incredibly delicious. You can whip up most of her stuff with pantry staples. She picks healthier or more wholesome alternatives to restaurant bestsellers and her IGTV on Instagram has plenty of those recipes. You’ll also find vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and grain-free dishes to make yourself at home.
