Kids can now sign up to virtual tours and workshops at Dubai’s Etihad Museum

UAE school students can learn about Emirati culture from home

Museums may currently be closed, but that doesn’t mean your kiddos can’t get their culture fix thanks to Dubai’s Etihad Museum.

School students across the UAE can sign up to a selection of virtual tours and workshops at Etihad Museum and learn all about Emirati heritage and history without even leaving the house

Kids will be able to see all the historical artefacts and pieces of artwork housed inside the museum and will also get their own cultural guide who will show them around, talk them through all the exhibitions and even answer any questions that they may have.

In addition an educational workshop will allow them to discuss what they have seen during the live walkthrough and to write a short report documenting their discoveries.

The tours are can be accessed through Dubai 360– an online platform offering panoramic video and photographic content of several sites of interest across Dubai.

Etihad Museum’s director of museums department, Muna Algurg, said: “Etihad Museum is a legacy for the union’s founders, and it is our responsibility to maintain its stature in the minds of upcoming generations. Under the current circumstances that forced us to temporarily close the museum to preserve public health, we sought to continue spreading the museum’s message and achieving its goals.”

”Assessing our customers’ needs and the opportunities we have to offer in line with the needs of the current remote learning period for all student in the UAE, we were able to develop the virtual guided tours in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai and the Ministry of Education which helped play an active role in promoting it among schools across the UAE. We received positive interactions from many schools that expressed their desire to reserve these tours and workshops and integrate it within their current remote learning curriculum,” Algurg added.
