New digital exhibition available at NYUAD Art Gallery

Ways of Seeing now available online

The NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Art Gallery launches its third digital archive today (Tuesday June 23).

Ways of Seeing will be available as part of its virtual program, TRACE: Archives and Reunions.

The exhibition was curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath and they will both join join Louma Salamé, director of the Boghossian Foundation and The NYUAD Art Gallery Executive Director Maya Allison for a discussion at 7.30pm via Zoom.

Allison said: “At a time when most travel has been curtailed due to the pandemic, will the concept of ‘region’ shift in light of our heightened virtual existence, across time-zones?”

The digital archive will include a range of materials, including an extensive photo archive.

Ways of seeing is Inspired by the multi-layered arguments of visual culture critic John Berger and was held in September 2018 at The NYUAD Art Gallery, bringing together 26 artists through 41 works, including painting, sculpture, and photography, as well as sound, film, and installation.

Artists included Salvador Dali, Lateefa bint Maktoum and Grayson Perry.

The NYUAD Art Gallery’s TRACE: Archives and Reunions is a series of ten digital events and reunions enabling audiences to explore past exhibitions.

A six-year anniversary bookm looking at the galleries six years will be released at the end of the season.
