You can now use your Gulf Air miles on Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways

The partnership will make it easier for travellers going to the US

Gulf Air and Etihad Airways have signed a new partnership that means you can use your miles on either airline.

The two carriers already signed a codeshare agreement back in March 2019, and the agreement means there will be greater cooperation between the frequent flyer programmes Falconflyer and Etihad Guest.

Gulf Air will place its GF code on more flights, expanding its destination list, including in the US.

Passengers can also now use Etihad’s US pre-clearance which means passengers can process all immigration, customs and agriculture inspections in Abu Dhabi before flying.

Vincent Coste, Chief Commercial Officer for Gulf Air, said, “Gulf Air entered into a strategic codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways in March 2019.

“As an additional value proposition, we are delighted to build upon our successful partnership by further providing our Falconflyer members with the opportunity to earn and spend their Gulf Air miles on the Etihad Airways’ network.”

The news comes after Gulf Air signed a codeshare agreement with SriLankan Airlines, placing its GF code on flights from Bahrain to Colombo.

Etihad Airways also recently signed an agreement with Kuwait Airlines, placing its EY code on three Kuwait Airways routes to Kuwait, Iraq and Bangladesh.
