Low-cost carrier gains approval to repatriate residents to 13 destinations

Dubai’s low-cost airline flydubai has announced that it will be running 13 repatriation flights to help residents return to their home countries during the coronavirus outbreak.

Having previously suspended all operations in a bid to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Dubai-based carrier has announced that a limited number of flights are only available for repatriation, to carry citizens of 13 countries out of the UAE.

The following locations will be available, with flights running out of DXB Terminal 2. All flights, according to flydubai, include 20kg of baggage, and are subject to government approvals.

Azerbaijan
Bulgaria
Croatia
Georgia
Iraq
Iran
Kyrgyzstan
Romania
Russia
Serbia
Tajikistan
Ukraine
Uzbekistan

Emirates has also announced a limited number of flights going out of DXB to help repatriate citizens from the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland and Belgium. As with flydubai, all flights are outbound only.

Meanwhile, DXB has undergone a massive sterilisation effort as part of the National Sterilisation Programme, with the world’s busiest international airport showing how the whole thing happened – watch it here.
