Your travel plans may have been put on hold this year but we’ve got something for you to look forward to: an epic bus route linking Delhi and London.
From next year you’ll be able to board a bus passing through 18 countries in 70 days.
Inspired by the ‘hippie trail’ of the mid-twentieth century, which saw travellers travelling overland from Europe to India, ‘Bus to London’ is the brainchild of Indian travel company Adventures Overland.
Starting in Delhi in May 2021, the 12,500-mile trip will run both ways and the bus will pass through a number of Indian cities, then through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and China.
The second part of the trip includes a number of Chinese cities, before passing through the Silk Road cities of central Asia on the way to Moscow.
Finally, the trip traverses eastern and central Europe before the final approach via Brussels to London – before the bus, with a new load of passengers, retraces the whole route back to India.
The full one-way trip costs 1.5 million rupees per person (Dhs75,052), which includes bus transport, local guides and tours, hotel stays, some meals, visas, admin fees for Indian passport-holders and snacks.
There are only 20 seats available and according to the trip brochure, the bus itself comes with Wi-Fi, private lockers, entertainment systems and ‘business-class’ seats.
If you’re looking for a slightly shorter holiday, you can join the journey for one of four parts, each lasting around two to three weeks.
Bookings can be accepted once there is more clarity with respect to travel regulations, both locally and internationally, however, if you’re up for the adventure you can register your interest right now.
