UK to close all travel corridors from January 18

Arrivals from the UAE will have to quarantine for ten days

The UK is set to close all travel corridors from Monday January 18, meaning visitors from the UAE will now have to quarantine for ten days upon arrival.

Alternatively, travellers may take a coronavirus test five days after landing in the UK and wait for the results to come back negative.

The change comes into effect from 4am (GMT) on Monday January 18.

All arrivals will also now be expected to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test before travelling to the UK.

The UAE had been added to the UK’s travel corridor list in mid-November, meaning visitors could avoid the mandatory ten-day quarantine in place for foreign arrivals.

According to Johnson, the travel corridor closure and PCR testing requirement will remain in place until at least Monday February 15.

This is when lockdown measures are expected to begin easing, provided case numbers fall in the UK.
