Saudi Arabia lifts UAE travel ban

The UAE will be removed from the banned country list on Wednesday September 8

The UAE is being removed from Saudi Arabia’s banned country list as of 11am on Wednesday September 8.

This means that travel to and from the UAE to the Kingdom may resume. Restrictions via Saudi Arabia’s land, sea and airports will be lifted at that time.

The news was reported on WAM, the UAE news agency, tonight (Tuesday September 7).  South Africa and Argentina will also come off the banned countries list at the same time.

According to WAM: “Citizens will be allowed to travel to the three referred countries, the source said, stressing the importance of adhering to all the precautionary and preventive measures adopted.”

The statement continued that “all procedures and measures are subject to continuous evaluation by the competent health authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”.

Travel has been suspended between Saudi Arabia and a number of countries due to the pandemic, with flight to and from the UAE having been grounded since Sunday July 4.

Passengers wanting to travel from the UAE to Saudi Arabia have been denied entry until now. Saudi citizens can now also travel to the UAE.

Those travelling to Saudi Arabia must have had two doses of either Pfizer BioNTech, Oxford AstraZeneca or Moderna, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson, with a certified vaccine certificate.

Those who have had two doses of Sinopharm or Sinovac may enter if they have had one additional dose of one of the four aforementioned vaccines. All travellers must provide a negative PCR test from within 72 hours of departure to Saudi Arabia.
