If that’s you, these are the cities you should consider starting a new life in next year. And if you’re not ready for a permanent move, these places are fantastic options for a vacation or a longer stay.
Wondering which city came first? The Greek capital, Athens, took the top spot in a new poll by packaging retailer RAJA. To come up with the ranking, a group of experts analysed data across ten factors including employment rate, cost of living, safety and healthcare. Athens clinched first place thanks to its high employment rate and affordable rent.
Next up is Austin in Texas, where experts say the quality of life is great. The city is packed with green spaces – so if you’re outdoorsy, this is the one for you. Then, in third, there’s Barcelona, which has good healthcare, great weather and some pretty exquisite national dishes. We’re packing our bags already.
Dubai 10th on the list, coming in after Delhi and before Dublin. The emirate ranked highly in safety, cost of living and quality of life. It also earned top marks for its affordability of national dishes.

Similarly, a list of more than 15,000 expats were polled by InterNations to create the Expat City Ranking 2020. Abu Dhabi took the 10th spot on the list, with Valencia earning the top prize, followed by Alicante and Lisbon.
