Oman’s first luxury Jumeirah Resort is opening this week

Located in Muscat Bay, the hotel will welcome guests from Thursday

If you needed an excuse to book a summer staycation in Oman, we’ve found you a good one.

That’s because Muscat Bay (15-minute drive from central Muscat) is getting its very own luxury Jumeirah Group hotel, Jumeirah Muscat Bay, and it’s opening to the public this week.

This Thursday (June 30) the Jumeirah Muscat Bay will welcome its first guests, though if it’s anything like Jumeirah’s other properties we’re sure it will become busy pretty quickly.

Tucked away inside a cove, Bandar Jissah, among the Hajar Mountains, and spanning a stretch of the Gulf of Oman, the resort seems to have positioned itself to offer a relaxing escape. Through putting on hike excursions, PADI-certified diving, yoga classes, a kids’ club and watersports, it’s also pitching itself at adventure seekers.

Looking inside, the 206 rooms and suites at Jumeirah Muscat Bay have a neutral colour palette with modern Arabesque accents. With the real show-stopper of each of them being the views over the mountain-scape and Gulf.

Known for its award-winning restaurants in Dubai, Jumeirah Group’s new resort has a varied foodie offering, which is being overseen by culinary director Claudio Dieli, who has more than 26 years’ experience working in restaurants across the world.

On the line-up there’s buffet restaurant Peridot, which will serve up international fare from live cooking stations at Jumeirah Muscat Bay. Along with a casual poolside restaurant Zuka and intimate bar Anzo, which will also serve Asian bites.

Another restaurant, which is being headed up by chef Cristiano Goattin, will follow in September and is set to offer a sharing seafood concept.

The Group’s famous Talise Spa will also make its Oman debut in the resort, spread over two floors with eight treatment rooms and a specialised Hammam room.

There’s also a deal running for the first to book, so if you’re considering it, listen up.

Any bookings made for four nights or more before 30 September will get 20 percent off the room rate, a complimentary stay for one child up to 11 years, and USD100 worth of credit on food, drinks and spa treatments. Sounds like the perfect excuse to visit Jumeirah Muscat Bay this summer.
