Thrilling activities reopening at Al Ain Zoo: eat with lions

More popular tours and activities are reopening, too

Al Ain Zoo is reopening some of its most popular activities and adventures after suspending them as part of precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Love taking a trip to the zoo? There’s something so cool about seeing animals up close, and Al Ain Zoo is one of the ultimate places to have a wild encounter.

Activities include having dinner with the lions, watching birds of prey dip and soar through the sky, cheetah races, and walks with lemurs. Are you ready?

Al Ain Zoo was founded in 1968 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and is the ultimate family destination, providing entertainment and learning experiences for kids and big kids alike. The animal collection includes more than 4,000 animals, with giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, penguins, lemurs and of course lions. It has made notable contributions to the conservation of desert antelopes and gazelles, such as the endangered Arabian Oryx.

Wondering what you can do at your next trip to the zoo?

Check out the dinner with the lions experience, where you can get up close and personal with the king of the jungle. Have a feast a few metres away from members of the Lion Kingdom. There’s no need to be scared though – animal rights and human safety will of course be prioritised, ensuring a safe and clear view of the lions while you eat. The experience is available from 9am to 8pm every day, and requires a prepaid booking 48 hours in advance.

Other tours and activities will be opening soon, including the bird-feeding experience, and adventures including penguins, giraffes, crocodiles, chimpanzees, gorillas and more. There will be up-close encounters and breathtaking shows to demonstrate the skills of various species.

Hippopotamus stories, cheetah races and lemur walks are all incoming.

Dhs32 (adults) Dhs10.5 (kids 3-12). Open daily, 9am-6pm. Nahyan the First street, Al Ain www.alainzoo.ae (800 966)
