Maybe we take Brauhaus for granted. After all, it’s such a stalwart in Abu Dhabi that we know if we’re ever in the area, or there’s an occasion to meet friends in Al Zahiya that Brauhaus will provide a cosy location to take a load off our feet and catch up with pals.
The venue, at Beach Rotana, has a cracking bar area with stools up at the ornate bar and around a few high tables. There are screens showing football (we’re always happy to see some nostalgic round-up shows on late at night) and the music is unobtusive (except during Oktoberfest when it’s suitably audible and Christmas when traditional carols are played).
The choice of drinks is hop-heavy, but that’s just the way we like it. There are ten draught options, all German, and more standard bottle choices. There’s also a small selection of short drinks and grape.
The food menu provides traditional dishes, most staying true to their Bavarian roots. We love the sausages in particular.
We always find staff to be totally on the ball, well versed in any ongoing deals or specials of the day and quick to serve and get the bill when you we need it.
There’s more of a dining room area to one side, which gets busy come the weekend, and some seats outside on the terrace. While it’s pleasant out there, you lose some of the atmosphere from the bar itself.
On our latest visit we stop in after a meal nearby and though it’s late there are still a fair few people enjoying their end-of-the-night libations. Brauhaus has a good reputation for a reason.
