Casa de Cuba

A Latin-themed bar at Yas Marina

Casa de Cuba
Casa de Cuba

Casa de Cuba has only just reopened after closing for the summer. Of course, the outdoor bar just wouldn’t work in the searing heat, but after noticing the weather is finally starting to cool, we’re here for a Thursday night party at the stylish Latin bar.

It’s certainly an Insta-worthy venue, with flower walls, neon signs and cards with witty messages on them placed strategically around to invite you to take a snap or two.

It obviously doesn’t take long before we’re posing for photos in the over-sized glasses and silly hats we find on our tables (yes, we’re easily entertained), and as the night goes on the place gets busier and busier.

We start sitting at one of the booths but have to retreat to one of the tall tables purely because it’s closer to the fans. However, give it a few weeks and every seat in the place will be perfect.

The open style of the venue means we have a great view of Yas Marina Circuit and the superyachts on the water, and it’s easy to see why this is such a popular after-party venue during Formula One weekend.

It’s a classy bar, and it feels significantly more up-market than some of Yas Marina’s other popular bars such as Mr Miyagi’s and Stars ’N’ Bars.

You’ll certainly find no colourful buckets of beverages here. Instead there’s a long list of South American-themed mixed drinks, created by legendary bartender Dinos Constantinides, the man behind the famous Lost & Found bar in Cyprus. They are all beautifully presented with fresh fruit and flowers.

The drinks aren’t the cheapest in town, and neither did we expect them to be considering how slick and cool the surroundings are.

But with a buy one, get one free offer on mixed drinks and house beverages on Tuesday nights, plus a Saturday ladies’ night with a new Wednesday night ladies’ deal on the way too, there are plenty of chances to grab a reduced-price beverage.

But the best thing about this place is the music. The DJ is provided by party planners Candypants, and it’s just a constant stream of brilliant tune, after brilliant tune.

It’s a mix of old-school classics, dance, R&B, pop and everything you can imagine. If you’re bored of the same trendy house tracks and want a sing-along and silly dance, this is the place to come.

We’re so glad it’s back from its summer hiatus..
