We’re lucky to have a plethora of outdoor terraces in this city.
Some with panoramic vistas of the sea, others with prime locations on the beach, but there’s always something appealing about watching the sun set behind the Abu Dhabi skyline from a comfortable seat with a cool drink in hand.
Eclipse Terrace Lounge, at the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi, is the latter, enjoying wonderful views of the city, making it a prime spot for a sundowner.
Taking our seats as the sun begins its slow decent behind the buildings, we admire the scene, take a few snaps and then settle in for a few chilled hours.
Apart from the spectacular views, the venue is chic, cool and everything you would expect from such a Four Seasons venue.
It’s elegant, stylish and, with a poolside location and plenty of comfortable seats dotted around the place, somewhere you could easily while away a few hours here without much trouble.
That’s our plan when we visit on a Wednesday night as we count down the hours to the weekend. There’s a good crowd in and it seems like we’re not the only ones looking to enjoy a few hours of relaxation.
At the bar, the staff make a show of preparing mixed drinks. Shakers are flying and they’re all crafted with care and flare.
Each of the drinks we try are delicious and temptingly moreish and, of course, we can’t resist sinking our teeth into a few nibbles, as well.
The edamame beans are ideal for sharing at a table and the roasted chicken wings go down equally well.
There’s music on in the background, but thankfully it isn’t so loud that we can’t have a conversation easily.
There’s a lot to like about this hangout and as twilight sets in and the moon waxes and wanes, the place gets a little busier.
Eclipse is relaxed enough for a quiet drink and the prices are reasonable, so you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy it.
