Now although our job is super fun (it involves more than just eating out all the time, honest), we still love nothing more than going on holiday.
So we are feeling very happy about the fact that arriving at Nasma Beachfront Bar makes us feels like we’ve jetted off on some far-flung summer trip, rather than just driven 20 minutes from our front door.
If you’re coming up from the beach, the bar is literally just a few steps from the end of the boardwalk that leads out onto the white sands. It’s the kind of spot that almost seems too good to be true, and it makes us question why we don’t spend more weekends chilling out on Saadiyat Island with a cool drink.
The layout oozes island vibes, with comfy sofas and slouchy beanbags spread throughout the shaded area.
It’s also surrounded by cabana beds and sunbeds, all reserved for those over 18, if you fancy having a snooze or topping up your tan after your beverage.
With flower pots hanging from the bar and colourful hats covering one wall, it’s the very definition of an Insta-worthy bar, and that’s even before you take in the bright blue Gulf and beautiful soft sand in front of you.
The venue is also just metres from the pretty main pool, which is lined with palm trees and fun turtle-shaped fountains.
The staff are dressed in Hawaiian shirts and they all seem to have chilled-out, friendly attitudes to match the laid-back style of the bar.
They’re not exactly in a hurry to take our order and deliver our drinks, but with such a scene before us, it’s not like we’re keen to be in and out in a flash.
The prices aren’t exactly cheap either, however with such a spectacular setting, we really didn’t expect them to be.
We stick to two pints of hops, but there’s also a good selection of fruity mixed drinks if you want to further accentuate that holiday feeling. It’s just before sunset, when the weather is cooling slightly and the sky is turning a brilliant orange. It’s our favourite time of day in the capital, and lots of other people seem to think it’s the perfect time to pay Nasma a visit, too.
Being surrounded by holidaymakers makes us forget that we have work tomorrow, and we really couldn’t feel happier.
