One of the museums coming to Abu Dhabi: Guggenheim Abu Dhabi exterior rendering
Amazing Guggenheim Abu Dhabi to complete construction in 2025

When will Guggenheim Abu Dhabi open on Saadiyat Island?

The Cultural District will soon be home to another iconic structure

It’s hard not to picture what it will be like on Saadiyat Island once the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum open their doors to the public.

As if Louvre Abu Dhabi’s iconic roof isn’t enough, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi’s ambitious façade and the Zayed National Museum’s falcon wing-shaped design will add two more architectural wonders to the shores of Saadiyat Island.

Like us, we bet many of you will be impatient to know when these new attractions will open.

But the good news is that Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is said to be “on track” and construction of the building should start in the coming months.

Richard Armstrong, director of the Soloman R. Guggenheim Foundation and Museum in New York, gave an update on the project in a recent interview.

The gallery is now set to open in 2022, and we’re already counting down the days until we get to see the inside, and outside, of the latest addition to the Cultural District.

Can’t wait that long?

Well, a new exhibition has opened at Louvre Abu Dhabi showcasing some of the earliest photographs ever taken, so you can get your culture fix in the meantime.
