Hype Dish: Charcoal Eggs Benedict at Sola

What goes into this cracking eggs benny

Did someone say gourmet eggs?

Forget everything you think you know about breakfast, because Sola Restaurant and Café has been smashing the Abu Dhabi foodie scene with dishes that are as aesthetically impressive as they are delicious.

Located in the up-and-coming Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Park area, Sola has the power to floor you with flavour and plates you’ll want to preserve forever on your feed.

This spot is especially impressive considering that it only recently opened in February of this year.

The eye-catching charcoal eggs benny dish at Sola brings together two of the city’s favourite food trends: breakfast and charcoal food. The bread is pure black, topped with white poached eggs, tucked into a secret avocado recipe, and drizzled in black Hollandaise sauce.

Prick your fork into the egg and warm yellow yolk bursts out, creating an artistic breakfast plate that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

“Sola is where the traditional meets the modern. Everyone loves eggs benedict, so we wanted to put our own spin on it and make it new,” says Sola Chef Deepit Devku Naikare.

If you’re an early riser (or even if you’re not, breakfast is served until 4pm at Sola) you’re going to love this dish. It knocks all other eggs benny’s out of the park in terms of originality and feed-worthiness. Gather all of your favourite brunchers and head to Sola to try the dish everyone is talking about.

The hype

“You see lots of charcoal dishes across the city, but nobody has done a charcoal eggs benedict. Charcoal is healthy: it’s an antioxidant, and eggs benedict is a classic dish. We wanted to create something nobody had seen before and we’re very proud of how it turned out.”

The bun

The eggs benny rests on a pure black bun. Unusual-looking, but just as soft and yummy as any other muffin.

The eggs

These eggs are fit to burst with the first prick of your fork. Perfectly cooked each time you tuck in.

The hollandaise sauce

The hollandaise has a Sola spin on it, “with truffles from Spain, lemon, and charcoal.” This sauce is pure black and completely ‘gram worthy – plus it tastes great.

The guac

Sola does its own version of guacamole, which the eggs benny rests on. “I can’t tell you the recipe, it’s a secret, but we have our own spin on this element too.”
It’s over-easy to see why this dish has been bursting across our feeds. Yum.
