Re-live Expo 2020 Dubai with new video narrated by Morgan Freeman

The legendary actor recounts the world’s greatest show in a new short film

Expo 2020 may have come to an end but its memory will live on. And a New Expo 2020 Dubai Morgan Freeman video is helping to carry on those special moments from the world’s greatest show.

Fans who visited can reminisce about the exhibition by looking at their Expo 2020 passports and marvelling at the stamps they racked up.

But now, they can re-live the story from start to end after a video has been released narrated by the one and only Morgan Freeman.

His famous voice opens up the seven-minute-long clip, named “A dream to reality”, by asking, “How do you build the impossible?”

Explaining Dubai’s vision for Expo 2020, before it was built, Hollywood actor Freeman continues: “A city for humanity. A city for which there are no blueprints. A city to welcome the world.”

“The dream. But like all good stories, we should go back to the beginning.”

Reminding viewers that it all began in Paris 2013, when Dubai won the bid to host Expo 2020, shots show scenes from the French city before a collage of the building work starting in Dubai plays out.

Then the video addresses the global COVID-19 pandemic and how it led to challenges for Expo 2020.

Freeman narrates: “But as that commitment was becoming a reality, our world as we knew it changed forever, at a time when the world needed it most, we found a true moment of global solidarity.”

The Gone Baby Gone star continues: “With an uncertain future, and a host of new challenges, the greatest hope we have is each other,” as images of empty cities around the world fill the screen.

In the next shot, the camera shows the Expo 2020 site illuminated as it opened its doors to visitors in October 2021.

Famous faces as Cristiano Ronaldo, Coldplay and Lewis Hamilton star as Freeman goes on to share the future plans for the Expo 2020 spot.

“As we say our last goodbyes, and head back to the places near and far we call home, we can reflect on the countless experiences we have shared here.

“Over 20 million of us, from more countries than ever before, leave here united by a shared dream and bounded by a common purpose — every one of us changed by the realisation that ‘I can too’.

“We will build the future that we want for humanity.”

Freeman then comments on the exciting update that the Expo 2020 site will be repurposed into District 2020.

He adds: “Expo City will live on as a permanent fixture of Dubai and as an enduring beacon of the city’s commitment to creating a future of opportunity, mobility and sustainability.”

The six-month fair became Dubai’s hub for entertainment, education and eats with people travelling far and wide to get inside before it closed on Thursday March 31, 2022.
