New major solar project to help power Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

40 percent of the park’s power will come from the sun

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is one of the most popular attractions on Yas Island and in the UAE.

The Guinness World Record-holding indoor theme park is home to dozens of ride, shows and attractions featuring some of Warner Bros most popular characters including Batman, Superman, Bugs Bunny, The Flintstones, Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo.

Now, aiming to make the park more environmentally friendly, a deal has been agreed to help power the plant through sustainable energy.

Miral and Masdar have agreed a new project to install 16,000 solar panels on the roof of the attraction.

Covering 36,000 sq m, the new solar field will generate enough energy to provide nearly 40 percent of the power inside the park.

Under the new deal the Yas Island attraction will become the largest solar-powered park in the Middle East.

“Masdar is pleased to be entering into this partnership with Miral to develop Abu Dhabi’s largest rooftop solar project.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Masdar on this landmark agreement,” said Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral.

“Sustainability is high on our agenda and with Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi recognised as the world’s largest indoor theme park, it is the ideal location for a project of this scale.

“This collaboration is a testament to our commitment of harnessing the most efficient, innovative and sustainable systems across our developments on Yas Island, further positioning it as a top global destination for entertainment, leisure and business.”
