flydubai to resume flights between Dubai and Doha

Journeys will now take just 45 minutes

Airline flydubai will reinstate what is an historically busy flight route between Dubai and Doha from Tuesday January 26.

A double daily service will connect Dubai International (DXB) to Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) from next week.

Journeys will take approximately 45 minutes. Prior to relations between the two countries normalising the same trip could take up to five hours and included a stop-off.

Currently, entry to Qatar is only permitted to Qatari nationals and residence permit holders.

Those returning to Qatar will need obtain an exceptional entry permit, and as the UAE is not on Qatar’s green list, they will need to quarantine in a hotel for a week.

Tourists are allowed to visit the UAE, and as Abu Dhabi has just added Qatar to its green list, arrivals in either emirate from Qatar will not be expected to quarantine.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai CEO, said: “With today’s announcement we see the flydubai network grow to 64 destinations. Flights to Doha will start from 26 January and to meet expected demand we are pleased to launch operations with a double daily service. We hope to be able to continue to grow the service.”

The airline has recently introduced an extended multi-risk travel insurance that includes COVID-19 cover to offer passengers greater piece of mind when travelling.

In the UAE, flydubai has also partnered with Aster DM Healthcare and NMC Healthcare to offer passengers PCR testing at special rates.

To take advantage of these special rates, passengers must be able to present a valid flydubai booking confirmation along with their Emirates ID or passport copy.

Passengers are required to make sure they are up to date with the regulations from the IATA Travel Centre for the entirety of their journey, and follow the guidance issued by the authorities and the airline.

A similar announcement has also been made by Abu Dhabi carrier Etihad Airways.
