Private beaches, swimming pools can operate at 60 percent capacity in Abu Dhabi

Capital announces new regulations

Abu Dhabi has eased health and safety restrictions at hotel and tourist destinations in the capital.

Leadership has announced a raft of fresh instruction in the continued campaign to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the UAE. Restrictions that were brought in on February 7 have been eased slightly to allow for greater maximum capacities.

The Department of Culture & Tourism has announced in a circular that private beaches and swimming pools can now operate at 60 percent capacity, while business events are allowed to welcome half (50 percent) of their maximum total of visitors. Beaches and pools were previously at 50 percent.

As part of the latest government update, entertainment venues are also allowed to operate at 30 percent occupancy rates. Attendees will need to undergo a PCR test at least 48 hours prior to the event.

Staff will also need to complete a COVID-19 test on a weekly basis.

Earlier this week (Sunday March 7) it was announced that cinemas could reopen at 30 percent capacity.
