Abu Dhabi eco retreat launches dining experiences and staycations

Want to stay in a dome by the mangroves?

We can all do with a little escape from time to time, right?

Our work life balance can sometimes go askew and when emails and social media become overbearing it’s understandable if you wanted to kick your smartphone out of the room, turn on your out of office and run out the room.

We love a good staycation and we don’t need much excuse to pack our bags and hit the road.

Over on Jubail Island, Pura Eco retreat opened earlier this year and is already one of the coolest new additions to the city this year.

Located slap-bang in the middle of Jubail Island, you can book in to stay in one of the eco domes, a stone’s throw from the mangroves or enjoy an overnight stay in native tents.

In the domes you’ll have all the amenities for some glamping including a king-sized bed, bathroom and modern amenities.

The native tents are a little more rustic, set up by the water, where you can enjoy stargazing at night before retreating to the tent to catch some z’s on a full size bed.

Rates starting from Dhs1,700 a night in the domes and Dhs700 a night for the tents.

Plus, if you need to burn of some energy you can also enjoy activities including cycling, fat biking, kayaking, yoga, bird watching and more.

New dining experiences have also launched at the site that you can try without booking in for a stay.

You can now head to Jubail Island to enjoy a barbecue, high tea and breakfast.

Want to get grilling? The self-grilling barbecue experience gives you the chance gather a group of four and slap some marinated meats on the grill to be eaten al fresco.

There’s a resort chef on hand too to keep you right (and stop you burning your dinner) with a minimum spend of Dhs325 on pre-ordered meats per person required to book.

Looking for something a little more refined? A brand new high tea has also launched at the location which features sandwiches, small bites and pastries.

The afternoon tea costs Dhs265 per person with soft drinks and Dhs295 per person with house beverages.

I wonder if we could do high tea, then barbecue then fall asleep in the domes with a full stomach? That sounds like a good day out in our book.
