Athletes in Abu Dhabi, listen up. The ADNOC Abu Dhabi marathon is returning this year with an all-new race series to help you prepare for the big race. Ready to hit the ground running?
The main marathon will take place on Saturday December 17 and is expected to feature a record 20,000 participants. The new marathon course route that tours some of Abu Dhabi’s most prominent landmarks, starting in front of ADNOC Headquarters and weaving through Al Bateen Palace, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Hosn and the World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi. The finish line is set at ADNOC Campus with a race village.
The shorter distance events will start in front of Nation Towers on the Corniche Road and conclude on Al Marsa Street, while the ten kilometre course ends at ADNOC Campus.
Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) also recently announced the new race series, which is open to people of all ages and will feature three organised runs ahead of the main marathon.
The first run already took place on Sunday September 4 at Yas Mall. The second run will take place on Saturday October 8 at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain. There will be an outdoor 10km race, plus 5km and 3km options.
The third run will take place on Saturday November 5, just over a month before the marathon. Participants can race a 21.1km half-marathon on a new Yas Island course, or go for 3km, 5km and 10km distances.

Registration for the race series will open in August at the Super Sports UAE website, where you can select your preferred event and distance or sign up for the whole series. Sign-up for each event is Dhs55, while entry for the half-marathon on Yas Island is Dhs175.
If you sign up for all three events you’ll get a 20 percent discount with prices starting from Dhs115. If you’ve registered to run the ADNOC Abu Dhabi marathon, you’ll get a 30 percent discount code for the race series.
