Al Dhafra Festival Abu Dhabi 2022-2023 dates revealed

Celebrate Bedouin culture with camel beauty contests, Arabian horse races, falconry and more

Looking to take part in some incredible culture? The Al Dhafra Festival is an annual event held in Abu Dhabi that celebrates Bedouin culture.

This year the mega event is kicking off on Friday October 28 and will run until Tuesday January 31, 2023.

If previous events are anything to go by, the Al Dhafra Festival will bring bring Bedouin cultural events and competitions to Abu Dhabi, including camel beauty contests and falconry.

The festival is held each year in the largest town in the Liwa Oasis, which is also the ancestral home of the Bani Yas tribe. At the heart of the festival are the camel beauty contests which involve tens of thousands of camels from across the region.

Camels at the Al Dhafra Festival

The contests focus on purebred camels from the Asayel and Majaheem lineages and there are a whopping 82 rounds to choose the winners. Who will be crowned the fairest camel of them all?

The last Al Dhafra Festival had loads of other events too, including purebred Arabian horse racing, Arabian Saluki dog races, falconry and handicrafts. There was also a sheep beauty contest, archery, shooting contests, and so on. Keep your eyes glued on this space to hear the lineup this year.
