Driverless taxis arrive in Abu Dhabi with free rides

The service is available on Yas Island

The future has arrived in Abu Dhabi, with the UAE’s first driverless taxis arriving on Yas Island. TAXAI is a new type of taxi that uses Geospacial intelligence layered with AI to change the way we commute.

Trials to try this cool service are on for a limited period. There are nine different pick-up and drop-off points: Etihad Arena, Yas Marina, W Hotel Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Mall, IKEA, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and Yas Beach.

All you have to do is download the TXAI app on Google Play or the Apple Store. Since the app is in its trial phase, rides are free for a limited time. The wait time will depend on your location and the app will let you know how long the waiting time will be.

TXAI is only available on Yas Island for now. You can travel between the pre-determined pick-up and drop-off points. There is a driver available in the car who will act as a safety officer and will take over driving in case of an emergency.

Up to three passengers, including children and babies, are welcome and there is space for prams and small luggage. You will need to wear a mask and have green pass status on the Al Hosn app to use the service.

Abu Dhabi is one of the most futuristic cities in the world (yeah Dubai, you heard us). With huge things happening across the arts, culture, tech and science.
