Dubai flying taxis to launch in the next four years

Getting stuck in traffic will be a thing of the past

Thought flying cars were just a thing that existed in sci-fi films? Not anymore because Dubai flying taxis are coming soon.

That’s right Dubai is one step closer to having cabs hovering in the air.

Plans have been unveiled sharing intent for 35 Dubai flying taxis to begin ferrying passengers around the city in just four years time. Buckle up.

Dubai flying taxis: driverless flying car flying above the city and water

The update on Dubai flying taxis comes as electric aircraft company Eve Holding, owned by Brazilian plane maker Embraer, and UAE-based charter flight operator Falcon Aviation Services have signed a letter of intent.

Embraer said in a statement that deliveries of the eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and lift) aircraft are expected to take off in just four years.

It is intended that the fleet of Dubai flying taxis will be used for tourist flights to from the luxury Atlantis, The Palm hotel. Seeing the city’s incredible cityscape by plane is popular, but imagine being able to do that soon in Dubai flying taxis.

Back in 2017, the city tested the world’s first automatic flying taxi and it made history as the world’s first self-flying service.

Dubai flying taxis: driverless car on a road with futuristic building in Dubai

Dubai is on a road to making travel futuristic.

Last year, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai penned a deal that will see General Motors-Cruise roll out self-steering vehicles on Dubai’s roads.

It was announced that a company named Cruise will provide a taxi and electronic reservation service for passengers.

The aim is to have 25 percent of all trips in Dubai completed via driverless modes of transportation by 2030.

Wondering about Abu Dhabi driverless cars and flying taxis? Last year, the capital launched a driverless taxi programme on Yas Island.

If you live in the UAE, you’re living in the future.
